Summary

Details

The installation of NX 2007 wants to install .NET Runtime 5.0.3, which is no longer supported by Microsoft.  The company's security team does NOT want to allow the installation of .NET Runtime 5.0.3.

Is .NET Runtime 5.0.3 necessary for NX 2007 to work?

Customer's Windows operating system build:

Windows 10.0.19044

Aka Windows 10 21H2

Solution

DEVELOPMENT explanation of where exactly .NET runtime 5.0.3 is required relative to the NX 2007 Series.

.NET core runtime 5.0.3 is used by a 3rd party product (Nestfab) which is included in the NX Platform.

However, it is a sheet metal nesting application so if the customer does not use that particular application, they can just bypass the install of .NET core runtime 5.0.3 - they won’t need it.

If they do need Nestfab, then 5.0.3 is the version that the application was built against and tested.  They have updated the application for 2212 so that is uses .NET Core Runtime 6.0.5.

It is likely they won’t need the Nestfab application so they can probably just not install  or bypass the .NET runtime 5.0.3 installation.
