Is it allowed to share or distribute the installed Solid Edge fonts with non-Solid Edge customers?

Solution

If you review the details or properties of the provided Solid Edge fonts you will see that the "Font Embeddability" for the various Solid Edge fonts are set to "Installable" e.g.

This "Font Embeddability" property is essentially the licensing allowed for the font. There are four levels of font embeddability:

  • Installable - Allows fonts to be embedded in the document and installed permanently in the computer.
    • Editable - Allows fonts to be embedded in the document but only installs fonts temporarily in the system.
      • Print and Preview Only - Allows fonts to be embedded in the document but only installs fonts temporarily in the system for printing purposes.
        • Restricted - Font cannot be embedded in a document.

As the Solid Edge fonts are marked as "installable" it is then possible to share the fonts with others to install on to their machines and for their use.

So, to directly answer the question, yes it is perfectly acceptable to distribute the Solid Edge fonts to downstream third-party consumers for their reuse.
