We recently moved to to TcVis 13.3 and we noticed that the Selected Clearance Analysis is not returning all the results if an assembly is selected. Selecting all of the parts under the assembly returns the all results.
SolutionThis is working by design and here is why.
Prior to TcVis 13.3, if you went to Clearance Preferences > Calculator Settings you would see these options:
In 13.3 and moving forward this section was added:
The default option is the bottom one which when selected is supposed to give you 50 results for step #6 in your use case:
1. Open and load garage_door_opener.jt
2. Insert and load Reciprocating_Saw.jt
3, Select GDO in the Assembly Tree
4. Enable Clearance Analysis
5. Select Analysis -> Selected Clearance
6. Note that 18 penetrations are identified.
7. Expand GDO and select all parts directly underneath GDO.
8. Select Analysis -> Selected Clearance (discard clearance results when prompted)
9. Note that now 50 penetrations are identified.
That option is supposed to match the behavior of Clearance prior to 13.3 which might make sense why the customer saw this working in 13.1. Here you can see if I have that bottom option on and select GDO and then run the selected clearance I get 50 results and the column shows it is looking at the parts:
If I change to that top option for assembly level only, then if I run the test against GDO I now see 18 results and the column indicates that they are against the GDO assembly and not the parts below it:
And if I select the parts below GDO and run the same test using both options they are consistent:
Finally, starting in TcVis 14.0 they decided to make the top option the default selection in the Calculator Settings:
