When creating a schedule it has been identified that Dependencies would be created between the Overarching Work Package and each of the Functional Work packages below it.

The diagram below shows this.


When attempting to add a lead time to As late as possible items this is not possible. putting a positive lag results in an error message and putting a negative lag (or lead) does nothing. I would expect putting a negative lag would shift FWP 844 to the left.

How can lead times be added to as late as possible schedules?

Solution

The current SM system works within the boundaries of the schedule start and finish date – and if any action is done which pushes the schedule task dates beyond the schedule boundary, it throws the error shown.

This means that the schedule doesn’t support Auto Extend mode, and is a good candidate for an ER.
