In this example the customer has some assemblies in their Solid Edge Wiring and Harness Design diagram.
They want to copy an assembly from one project and paste it into another project with the same name.
Steps:
1) They insert the assembly in diagram. In this case, they only insert one component of the assembly (Q547).
2) They copy the assembly:
3) They open a diagram in another project and they paste the assembly with Ctrl+SHIFT+V (in order to not change the name). As you can see in the image below, the assembly is copied - = but if we go to the assembly folder in the design browser, we have only one component:
You can see that there is only Q547. However, this assembly has two more components. If we go to assembly properties, the part number is copied as well, and if we go to the assembly´s details, there should be two more components in the list.
In Solid Edge Wiring and Harness Design there is a limitation with the Copy/Paste action as it applies in the context of Assemblies.
Copy/Paste will only copy the objects that are currently placed within a diagram. Unplaced objects will not be copied to the target project/design.
