When using Solid Edge as a cloud user, you will be able to start Solid Edge on any machine that has Solid Edge installed and is set to Cloud Enabled.  You start Solid Edge using your Webkey and Password.

However, what happens regarding updating to the latest Maintenance Pack?

Solution

Once you have logged in with your Webkey and password, you will see the following window:

In the image above, you can see there is Maintenance Pack information.  In this instance, both "Download" and "Install" buttons are inactive.  This indicates that this machine already has the latest available Maintenance Pack downloaded and installed.

If this were not the case and a new Maintenance Pack for the current Solid Edge version had been provided in Support Center, then the buttons would be active and you would just click on "Download" and "Install" to update to the latest Maintenance Pack.

Once the Maintenance Pack is installed, it will be stored in the %TEMP% Directory under the current version of Solid Edge.  For instance, in Solid Edge 2022 you would find a folder called "222" and beneath it the folder "MPs" - this is where the latest available Maintenance Pack gets copied to:

When a new Maintenance Pack becomes available, Solid Edge will compare the existing Maintenance Pack version in the %TEMP% Directory with the latest Maintenance Pack in Support Center.  If it finds a newer Maintenance Pack is available, then the Buttons "Download" and "Install" will become active again and the User can easily download and install it.

In order to minimize disk space, only the latest Maintenance Pack will be stored in the %TEMP% Directory.
