Summary
Details
A user has a Solid Edge assembly which they open in Design Manager. They select a part in the assembly and click on "Replace", define a replacement part on the operating system and then "Perform Actions".
Subsequently, if they open the assembly in Solid Edge the relations of the replacement part are broken.
In contrast, if the assembly is opened in Solid Edge and a "Replace Part" is done then the relations are maintained.
Why is there a difference in behaviour?
Solution
Whether a part replace done in Design Manager will retain assembly relations depends whether the replacement part is a revision of the original part or derived from it.
If the part is not derived from the original part - as in this example - then it will not maintain the relations.
If you were to do the "Replace Part" using the same parts in Solid Edge, it has some logic to maintain relations even for those which are not derived parts and will look for similar faces and edges to bind the relations.
