Keyshot Model orientation rotated 90° compared to Solid Edge

2022-04-21T15:19:47Z

Summary

Details

If any Solid Edge model is exported to Keyshot - via the direct interface - then this model is positioned differently when opened in Keyshot.

By default, the model is rotated 90° around the X-axis.  The vertical axis is no longer the Z-axis but the Y-axis.

This applies not only to the original export/import but also to any subsequent update.

If the model is imported directly into Keyshot, the vertical axis can be selected via the import dialog.

Solution

The root cause for this is that the Z-axis is up for Solid Edge whilst the Y-axis is up for Keyshot.

There is an Enhancement Request for having this synchronized between Solid Edge and Keyshot.
