NX for Design
Summary
Details
When generating Extrude feature using "Symmetric Value" option as "Width"" in "Limits", it is created at half the distance specified on each side of the selected section curves. In other words, the "Distance" specified here seems to be applied as overall length including both sides (overall length of "Extrude" feature). For feature created with NX11, "Distance" specifies one side of the section curves, and the total length of the feature is twice the specified "Distance".
Reproduced Steps:
1.Create Extrude feature in NX1899 or before and save the part 2.Open the part and create Extrude feature in NX1926 or higher 3.Compare 2 features
** Left = created in NX11, Right = created in NX 1926. "Distance" for both features is the same, "100" mm.
Solution
The phenomenon is because a design changes on "Distance" of "Symmetric Value" happened in NX 1926.
When working in NX 1926 or higher, the feature created in NX 1899 or before may cause confusion between old and new.
Relations between specified distance and total width depending on the version: -NX 1899 or earlier: The specified distance is one direction (total width is "distance"*2)-when "distance" = 100, total width = 200 -NX 1926 or later: The specified distance is the total in both directions (total width is "distance"*1)-when "distance" = 100, total width = 100
If you use the "Renew Feature" command and recreate it with the new algorithm, it will be created with the same total width as before, and the shape will not change. However, the "distance" specified as the value is replaced by the expression. This makes it possible to distinguish between the recreated features. After checking, you can change the expression to a value if it is determined that you do not need it.
*** "Extrude" feature created prior to NX 1899 ***
*** Results after executing the "Renew Features" command ***

Symmetric Value When you use symmetric values to define the start and end of the extrude, you can now input the total width of the extrude.
