In this scenario, in a Solid Edge Data Management setup, when a drawing is created for a part, the file saved and closed, subsequently, the 'Open Draft' command is not able to find the Drawing and reports "No drawing found".
SolutionThis is to do with the Microsoft Windows Indexing service. If you experience this issue, try updating the settings as described below to see if this improves the system.
A. In a default Windows Operating System Installation the Windows Search Service Property Startup type is set to "Automatic (Delayed Start)".
Solid Edge Data Management, whether in a Server/Client environment or on a local machine, recommends to set the Windows Search Service to "Automatic " so that the service will be forced to start automatically when you start your computer. This will ensure that your searches are faster and more efficient.
To set the Windows Indexing Search Setting to Automatic, follow these steps:
B. To improve the performance of the Windows Indexing and Search it may helpful to disable the Windows Indexing Backoff.
Background: By default Windows Search only indexes while the system is idle. Disabling Backoff will index even while the system is in use.
Note: This can have negative influence on the performance of other Services and Programs.
The Windows indexer Backoff setting can be switched two ways:
Via Computers Group Policy
To enable disabling Windows indexer Backoff by Local Group Policy, follow these steps:
4. In the Search folder, double-click on the "Disable indexer backoff" policy.
5. In the policy window, select the "Enabled" option.
6. Click on the "Apply" button and then click on "OK" to save the changes.
7. Close the Local Group Policy Editor.
Once you have completed these steps, the Windows indexer Backoff will be disabled on your system.
Or by Registry Editor:
