Solid Edge SEWHD - Symbol properties are missing in my assembly

Properties that are placed on a symbol are not showing up on the diagram when placed as part of an assembly. 

Solution

When placing an assembly on your design diagram, you want the symbol properties to be visible. The steps below will show how to make them visible.

Verify that the properties / attributes are marked as visible in the symbol library. 

1. Launch Electrical Symbol from the ribbon under the Solid Edge tab:

   

2. Open your symbol's library and locate your symbol 
   1. Tip: In the project browser where your library opened, you can use the search field near the bottom to help locate your symbol name.

      

3. Open the symbol (Either a double left mouse button (LMB) click, or a right mouse button (RMB) click and a left click on Open.

   

4. In the design browser, right click on the symbol name and select Properties
   

   

5. Click on the Properties tab, and verify that the boxes in the 'Visible' column next to each property is  ticked.

   

Now that the properties for the symbol have been verified as visible, go to your Solid Edge Wiring and Harness Design application window. The steps below will enable the properties to be visible in your assembly.

1. Open your diagram and locate the assembly that needs the properties to be made visible.

2. Right click on the assembly and click on Update Part

   

3. The Map Pins dialog box will open
   1. Verify that the box next to 'Copy Attribute/Property Values from Symbol' is ticked, and click on OK.

      

4. The assembly will update and the symbol properties / attributes will now be visible.
