Details
You want to add an attribute to your custom report, but it isn't listed in the report builder attribute list.
When selecting the Attribute element, a list of specific attributes are displayed for conductors, devices, connectors and splices, along with common attributes for all objects. In addition you can add a "User specified" attribute where you can include attributes not listed in the above sections.
Below is an example of how to add a 'User Specified' attribute. For this example, the attribute 'Part Description' is used.
Note: If you have experience using report builder, steps 7-9 will be helpful.
Solution
1) In the tool selection ribbon under the Workflow tab, click on the on the down arrow next to the Reports icon and select Build. This will open the Report Builder dialog box.
2) Report Builder dialog box 3) At the bottom right of the Report Builder dialog box you will see a series of icons of component types to include in the report. Any component type that is selected will show up on the report if present in the design. 4) To begin a new custom report, click on the green plus circle to add a new column to the report.
a. To open a saved customer report to be edited, click on the Folder icon and navigate to your save location to select your saved report to edit.5) In the Report Builder dialog box, click the Edit Column icon on the right side of the column to open the Edit Column dialog box
6) In the Edit Contents of Column dialog box, click and drag Attribute oval the edit field. (The Attribute oval will default to Name once in the edit field) 7) Select the down arrow next to the Name attribute oval, and select 'User Specified'. 8) An Input dialog box will open with a field titled 'Specify desired Attribute', with Name highlighted for edit. Enter the text PartDescription in the specify attribute field, and select the OK button to close the Input dialog box.a. Note: This PartDescription attribute will retrieve information entered as the components 'Description' in the Electrical Parts library, and shown on the Properties dialog box under Attributes.
9) The attribute in the column editor now states Part Description. Click on Done to close the column editing dialog box
10) You will see your report begin to build, with the Part Description for components selected in step 3 now being shown in the report builder window. 11) Enter a Plugin Name, Version, and Plugin Description in the appropriate fields. (Do not use spaces in the text.) 12) Click on the Disk icon to Compile and Save the custom report. (The default save location for the report is the plugin folder located in your SEWHD installation folder tree.) 13) Close the Report Builder dialog box.
14) To verify the Part Description is in your report, go back to the Reports icon pulldown and select Reports, click on your report name and select View Report.
