How do I create a template of a project to be used as a starting point for new projects?

Solution

Creating a custom project for reuse reduces input errors and helps with overall productivity. Below are the steps to create a template Project by defining Project Preferences and Style Sets, along with Properties for the Project, Harness Design, and Wiring Design. You may choose to configure one or all of these, or keep the default settings as needed.

Note: Below each section are screenshots to show where the steps are in the SEWHD browser.

Create a Project to use as a template
  1. Open Solid Edge Wiring and Harness Design
  2. On the Solid Edge ribbon tab, click on the New Project icon to create a new project
  3. Create new designs in the Design Browser portion of the application window. Right click:
    1. on the new project name and select new Wiring Design
    2. on the new project name and select new Harness Design (for harness design, a part number is also required to be entered in the Part Number field to create the design.)
    3. on the new project name and select new Layout Design
Note: For the purpose of setting up your template, each of these designs can to be empty. No design components are needed to define your template preferences and properties.
