The information below will help you with the steps to create a new encrypted password to replace your current CIS password. 





Solution

To recreate a new encrypted password:

1) Navigate to the bin folder located here:
%SOLID_EDGE_WIRING_AND_HARNESS_DESIGN_HOME%\bin

2) Inside the folder, locate and run the ElectricalUtility.exe file.

(Note: Depending on your permissions, you may have to select the executable, Right Mouse Button > Run As Administrator)

3) This executable will open a dialog box show below.

4) In the 'Text to encrypt' field, enter your password. (Default password is manager), and re-enter the same password in the 'Confirm text to encrypt'. In the confirm field, red dots will alert you that the Confirm field entry does not match the initial Text to encrypt entry. All black dots means the two entries do match.


5) With matching entries, the 'Encrypt' button is now active to click on and create the new encrypted password. Select the 'Copy' button to copy the encrypted password to the clipboard.
6) Paste the newly encrypted password into your clientprops.xml file, at the password location for the Solid Edge Electrical Integration Server.

Note: The clientprops.xml file is located in the SEWHD installation config folder. (File location: %SOLID_EDGE_WIRING_AND_HARNESS_DESIGN_HOME%\config)

The password entry location in the clientprops.xml is located near the bottom of the clientprops.xml file. The example below shows the location with the newly encrypted password entered.

Note: Be sure to leave the quotation marks located at the beginning and end of the password entry.
7) Save and Close your clientprops.xml file.
