Customized thread definitions added to the '...\UGII\
thd_metric.dat' (or '
thd_english.dat') files do not appear in the '
Thread Standard' list in the '
Thread' command dialog.
Solution
Enhancements made to the '
Thread' command in the NX 1926 Series (June 2020 Functional Release) include the introduction of a new thread definition file '
NX_Thread_Standard.xml' (located in the '
UGII_BASE_DIR\ugii\modeling_standards' folder).
The '
NX_Thread_Standard.xml' file replaces the '
thd_metric.dat' and '
thd_english.dat' files used by the '
Thread' command in NX versions prior in NX 1926.
(This file also replaces the '
nx502_Threaded_Hole_Standard.xml' used by the '
Hole -
Threaded Hole' command.)
The new thread definition file has a different format, so any customized entries in the old 'thd_metric.dat' / 'thd_english.dat' files need to be entered in to the appropriate fields in the '
NX_Thread_Standard.xml' file. To add an entry, copy and paste an existing line in the file and edit it to included the required changes.
Note that the new format has both '
Size' and '
Callout' parameters. The value in the '
Size' field is displayed in the '
Thread Size' list in the '
Thread' and '
Hole - Threaded Hole' command dialogs. The value in the '
Callout' field is used as the '
Thread Size' in a '
Hole Callout' dimension (created in PMI and/or Drafting).
Note also, for thread size values that have a prefix character and contain a fraction, for example 'G_3/4', it is necessary to include a space or an underscore ('_') between the prefix and the fraction value, in the 'Callout' field, to ensure that the fraction value is displayed as G '3 over 4', rather than 'G3 over '4' in the Hole Callout dimension.
