Summary
Details
The customer reported problems with the PDF documents generated in Solid Edge when used in other applications. This involved display issues with some fonts. They found out that this was caused by non-embedded fonts in the PDF documents. Based on this the customer contacted us to clarify how all of their used fonts can be embedded in the PDF document.
After opening the customer's example PDF document in 'Adobe Acrobat Reader DC' and checking the used fonts (right-mouse-button-click in the opened PDF document > Document Properties... > Fonts tab) some of the fonts were documented as embedded (e.g. Solid Edge ISO) and some not (e.g. Arial).
Solution
To get all of the used fonts embedded in the PDF document the 'Siemens SE PDF Driver Advanced Options' (Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers > select 'Solid Edge PS Printer 3.0' > select 'Printing preferences' in the context menu > Advanced...) needs to be customized in the following way.
Change the 'TrueType Font' from 'Substitute with Device Font' to 'Download as Softfont' and confirm the modification with OK (twice, Options and Preferences). Checking the used fonts of the newly created PDF document shows the following result and all fonts are now embedded in to the generated PDF file thereby preventing display issues of the PDF on other systems.
