NX template import operation failed with the error "The item type is not allowed for the intended operation"

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open TC command prompt and cd to %UGII_BASE_DIR%\UGII\template\sample
2. run "tcin_template_setup.bat" utility
3. Utility fails with error "The item type is not allowed for the intended operation"

 

Solution

As per the error, it seems that the customer may have restricted the Item Types using the TC preference "TC_part_types_display_filter".  So, to import the OOTB template files, remove the Preference and try again.
 
TC_part_types_display_filter-
Site preference. This preference lets you filter out the item types in the Teamcenter database that are displayed in NX, such as in the New Item dialog box. If the preference is not specified, all of the item types in the database are available for display.


The values used in this preference must be the name of the item type, not the display name.
