NX Not able to open STEP dataset in NX Manager

Not possible to open STEP file, Open Part dialog displays without any error

1. In BMIDE define a custom dataset to store step files.
2. STEP dataset is attached to Item Rev with IMAN_Rendering relation.
3. Create a new Item in Tc, attached the STEP dataset & import the named ref file.
4. Set Teamcenter preference 'TC_NX_Foreign_Datasets' to display STEP file
5. Launch NX in managed mode.
6. Search for the Item.
7. Item & Item rev displayed.
8. Click 'Ok' in the Open window

   Nothing happens, again the same window comes back.
 

Solution

Opening foreign datasets in Teamcenter Integration for NX is possible from NX 1926 onwards.
 
 You can now open foreign datasets that are in file formats such as DXF, DWG, STP, IGS, SAT, SAB from Teamcenter directly in NX by:


Dragging it from Active Workspace to NX.
 
 Using the Open command.
 
 Opening it from the Teamcenter Navigator.
