When Process Designer client trying to login, got error: "login failed. cannot obtain message. Formatmessage failed"
What does this error mean and how to address the issue?
Solution
Normally this error is due to the error setup/installation of eMclient.
When Process Designer/Process Simulate client(eMclient) installed, we can find component service like this:
components > my computer > DCOM config > eMserver
components > my computer > DCOM config > eMclient
But in this case customer selected eMserver during client installation, or customer has installed different version of Tecnomatix/eMserver, from client machine, we
can find components service like this:
components > my computer > COM+ application > eMserver
(above component should not be exist from eMclient machine)
components > my computer > DCOM config > eMserver
components > my computer > DCOM config > eMclient
This cause the error when startup Process Designer/Process Simulate client. After manually deleting "COM+ application, eMserver ", the issue has been addressed.
