How to migrate data from one server to a new server?
Solution
For most cases, simply copying the entire folder structure to the new server should preserve the links due to the methods Solid Edge uses to resolve those links. In the event that opening an assembly reports missing links, you can use the Tool "Redefine Links" within Design Manager to correct/update them. This command will ask for a "Look-in" folder, which is the location on the new server where the errant files are located. Then you will be asked for the "Existing path", which is the UNC path as it was stored on the old server. Usually, it is sufficient to supply the old server name and the top level share name on that server:
\\<old_server_name>\<share_name>
You will also need to supply the new path in a similar format. Click the Next button and Solid Edge will begin processing the files in the specified location to update the links to point to the new server name. Depending on the amount of data being processed, this could take hours or even days so it is recommended to run this overnight or over a weekend.
