How to retrieve correct/updated Composite HostID (CID) ?
Solution
Please read first part of this Solution Center article : https://solutions.industrysoftware.automation.siemens.com/docs/newsletter/Installing-your-NX-license-and-license-server-for-the-first-time.docx
Which says :
Installing your NX license and license server for the first time When you are installing NX for first time, and you receive your first license file, you may find that it is a temporary 7-day license. A time limited license file of this type can be identified by the following entry below the header of the license file:
If this note is present, you should obtain and register your Composite Host ID (CID) and then request a new license.
The CID is a unique identify based on a number of system parameters, including (but not limited to) MAC address, host name, and operating system. This is used to identify your specific machine as the only system which is allowed to use a particular license file.
The Composite Host ID of your server is created by running the "getcid.exe", which is located in the installation folder of your PLM License Server (please see below):
Alternatively, it can be downloaded from the GTAC support website: <https://download.industrysoftware.automation.siemens.com/ugs_licensing/CID/> --> <platform> --> getcid.exe
Locate the "getcid.exe" on the license server and run it by double-clicking it. This will display the hostname and Composite ID, as shown in the example below:
The Composite Host ID that you need to note/copy is the one associated to the Ethernet (wired) network connection, and not the Wireless (Wifi) connection
After generating your Composite Host ID, please register it via the License Management <https://www2.industrysoftware.automation.siemens.com/LicenseManagement/Application> page on the GTAC website. (Note: A WebKey Account is required to access this page of the GTAC support website. For advice on creating a WebKey account, refer to the section entitled 'Creating a WebKey Account' at the end of this document.)
