Solid Edge How to Modify Properties of "Released" Standard Parts?

Solid Edge Standard Parts are by default read-only since the beginning and changing properties is officially only allowed in the Standard Parts Administrator before generating the parts. Having this said, there has been a change in ST9 to make Standard Parts more compatible with the Built-in Data Management. Since ST9 MP5 we automatically RELEASE Standard Parts after generating.

As workaround a customer can change the status of a 'Released' Standard Part by using the Data Preparation Utility.  You can temporarily change status to "Available", make the modifications and set the status back to 'Released'.

Solution

How does this workaround work?


Example: a generated bolt has status Released, I want to modify the properties…


 

Workflow:


1)      Start the Solid Edge Data preparation Utility. 

2)      Select Files/Folders and add a Standard Parts Folder with generated parts (NOT the parents!).

3)      Generate Import List.
4)      This will create an Excel sheet.
5)      On the Excel sheet open the SE Data Prep tab. Here you have a macro "Set File Status".

6)      Run this macro to set status to "Available".
