Summary

Details

When using the Hole command with the 'Depth Limit' option 'Until Selected' (or 'Until Next') and the cylindrical face of an intersecting hole is selected (to define the depth of the hole being created), the message 'Unable to create tool body' is displayed, if the holes are of the same diameter.

Solution

If the requirement is to define the depth of a hole based on the position of an existing (intersecting) hole, of the same diameter, there are alternative methods available:

1. Use the 'Hole - Depth Limit' option 'Value' and set the 'Hole Depth' value using the 'Formula' option to link it to the parameter value of the positioning dimension of the existing hole.

2. Create a Datum Plane along the axis of the existing hole. The 'Hole - Depth Limit' option 'Until Selected' can then be used to select the datum plane. (The datum plane can subsequently be hidden.)
