Summary
Details
Customer has some custom Solid Edge Items in their Teamcenter environment that they want to promote to a company standard. Customer wants to add the managed part to a new category in the Standard Parts Administrator.
Solution
Preparation:
With Solid Edge create your new part, save and assign an Item in Teamcenter and close Solid Edge. This part has some variables to use later in the categories.
Add a single part
Steps to perform:
1) From the local cache (or export the named reference) copy the Solid Edge part to the ..\Solid Edge Standard parts\Teamcenter\ folder; you can create your own file structure. 2) Remove the read-only flag from this file.
3) Start the Standard Parts Administrator and run Add Parts (Ctrl +P). 4) Select Add from existing single part file. 5) Browse to your part in the ...\Solid Edge Standard Parts\Teamcenter\ folder. 6) The Administrator tool will ask you to login to Teamcenter and run the Part Editor - select "Yes".
7) Create a new category and add the Characteristics you need to select this part.
Adding multiple parts
Extending your category.
This first section explains the steps to add one of your managed Teamcenter parts to your own Standard Parts category. Next step is to extend the category and add a complete range of files.
Prerequisites are again generated files in Teamcenter. I used in my example the same file, opened in Solid Edge Embedded Client (SEEC) changed the diameter and used "Save As" to store in Teamcenter.
Steps to perform:
1) From the local cache (or export the named reference) copy the Solid Edge parts to the ..\Solid Edge Standard parts\ folder; create your own folder to store your custom files (in my example "My Standard").
2) Remove the read-only flag from the files. 3) Remove existing files from …\Solid Edge Standard parts\Teamcenter\Custom_parts; you can skip this step if you load all the parts for the first time. 4) Start the Standard Parts Administrator -> Add Parts (Ctrl +P). 5) Select "Add new user part file(s), extending existing parts". 6) Select "Add from manual data entry". 7) Add Files -> select your new files. 8) Common standard part. 9) Select your category. 10) Enter the selection values and Part name.
11) I will skip the preview part for this manual; press "Next". 12) Files are now added to the category.
Test working with SEEC
Start Solid Edge and create a new, save the file to Teamcenter.
Run Standard Parts. You now have your new category and can select a diameter. Select diameter and Place part. Save and close the asm: In the Teamcenter BOM-view:
