How do you add paint to an assembly and have it listed in the parts list?

Solution

You can create a "non-graphic part", which is a part with only file properties and no geometry. This Part can be dragged into the assembly with no constraints applied and be listed in the parts list. A user-defined quantity can be created in the assembly's occurrence properties. Solid Edge Help on "Non-graphic parts" has a far more detailed explanation of this process.
