NX for Design
Summary
Details
Users can create item types within NX, that are restricted through Teamcenter Business Object Display rules.
Solution
For specific users, the creation of specific item types can be restricted using Teamcenter Display rules. But within NX using Save As, Make Unique, and Mirror Assembly dialogs, users can still create these restricted item types.
Because the display rules apply to only creating of new items, which is why they are honored by File New and Save As New Item Type dialogs (which is essentially create operation from a database perspective) However, commands like Save As, Make unique, mirror assembly perform a copy of existing item revision and so would not honor display rules. We do not allow changing the item type of the component being mirrored so it is essentially a copy operation from the user's perspective.
