Solid Edge 3D Publishing - how "Create Button" command operates

In 3D Publishing is possible to use the "Create Button" command, the customer asks how it works specifically by selecting the "Execute Program" option.

Solution

The "Create Button" command operates as follows:

• Click on the "button" icon on the insert ribbon
• Drag to select the area to place the button
• Select the desired action from the pull down menu
• Setup action properties (if any)
• Press OK

 

 
Regarding the "Execute Program" action.  This action is NOT recommended for use in HTML web pages.  Most web browsers will prevent the execution of an .exe file from a web page.  Instead, users should use the "Hyperlink to Web" action.  
If the user wants to open a local file, just enter the name of a (non executable) file that will be in the same folder as the HTML file rather than a full URL.  
The "Execute Program" action is included primarily for compatibility with some older files.
