Solid Edge SEWHD Manager service fails to start - CIS Master already initialized on machine <<name of machine>> and port 49901.

The user installed Solid Edge Wiring & Harness Design (SEWHD) with the starter libraries. Subsequently they wanted to import a database from another SEWHD installation.


The database was imported according to the well-known principle "Stop Electrical Manager; Backup; Start Electrical Manager". 
A check of the services shows that they are correctly running. After starting SEWHD, the service for the Electrical Manager is stopped and the program does not start.


The ElectricalManager_SYSTEM log file says the following:

CIS Master already initialized on machine NB3079 and port 49901. Only one CIS Master is possible per Solid Edge Electrical database

Solution

Solid Edge Wiring and Harness Design stores the server machine name in a database record. When the database service is stopped properly, this record is removed and the error should not happen.


Do not use the Windows Services to stop the database if you are going to copy or move the database to a different machine. Stop the embedded database by selecting the Services > Stop Electrical Manager & Database menu item from the Solid Edge Wiring and Harness folder within the Start Menu.
 
 

To remove the server name reference in a copied database, the database administrator will have to run a script.  The file is located at <Solid Edge Wiring and Harness Design  HOME>\data\sql\embedded\DeleteFEMMasterEntry.sql
 
To run the script, open a command window, navigate to <Solid Edge Wiring and Harness Design_HOME>\embeddeddb\bin and type:
 
 psql.exe -U electrical2021 -d electrical2021 -p <port_number> -f <Solid Edge Wiring and Harness Design HOME>\data\sql\embedded\DeleteFEMMasterEntry.sql -o C:\TEMP\RemoveFEMEntry.log
 
 



 Where electrical2021 can be replaced by other versions such as electrical2020

< Solid Edge Wiring and Harness Design HOME> is replaced by the actual path
<port_number> is 5472 by default. If the default port number for the database has changed, it can be found in the managerprops.xml file.

 
After executing the script, the RemoveFEMEntry.log will say DELETE 1
