How to include a "greater than or equal to" symbol in a NX Drafting Note?

(Prior to NX 1980 Series.)

Solution

When using a TrueType Font, such as Arial, a symbol from the extended character set can be included into a Note by entering the code for the required symbol.

To create a 'greater than or equal to' symbol, enter the code U+2265 in to the 'Text Input' field of the 'Note' dialog, and then press the 'Alt' and 'x' keys simultaneously to display the symbol.

The code for a 'less than or equal to' symbol is U+2264.

Use the Windows Character Map command to obtain the character codes for other True Type font symbols;

1. Open the Windows 'Run' dialog. (Hold down the 'Windows' key and press the 'r' key.)

2. Type-in 'charmap' and select 'OK'.

3. Select 'Arial' from the 'Font' pull-down list.

4. Find the symbol you want and select it. Note that character code and description are displayed at the bottom of the dialog.

5. Press the 'Select' and then 'Copy' buttons on the Character Map dialog to place the symbol in the Paste buffer.

6. Paste the symbol in the 'Text Input' field of the 'Note' dialog in NX.

NX Fonts

If a NX font (such as ‘blockfont’) is being used, then entering the character sequences '<U>$><U>' into the text input field will create a greater-than-or-equal-to symbol.

(The characters '<U>$<<U>' will result in a less-than-or-equal-to symbol.)

Notes

Note: The workaround outlined above, when using True Type (or System) fonts, is valid for NX 8 through to the NX 1953 Series.

Enhancements to the 'Note' command in NX 1980 Series enables a ‘greater than or equal to’ symbol (and many others) to be included in a Note.

When using the Note command, select the ‘Symbol’ icon in the ribbon bar, select ‘More Symbols…’, on the ‘System Fonts’ tab enter ‘greater’ into the Filter field, select the symbol and then the ‘Insert Character’ icon.
