User is using a lot of round objects in their file. When reviewing the JT files in the TC Vis viewer they notice that the round objects are segmented/faceted. How to control the JT quality and get a better resolution of the model in the TC Vis viewer?
Solution
The JT quality is controlled in TC Vis by the tessellation settings. If you open a JT file in Teamcenter Visualization you can open the Tessellation settings from the Tools -> tessellation (enable Part Edit first).
On the Control tab, if you expand the Tessellation, you will see one LOD (level of detail).
On the Tessellation tab you can add new LODs. In this case we modify the choral deviation to get a smooth surface. on the control tab you can now switch between both Tessellations:
LOD 0
and LOD 1
This is the manual way to control the JT quality.
In this example the user is generating their JT files automatically by the TC preference SEEC_Image_Generate_3D=TRUE
When this preference is set, SEEC will use the ..\Solid Edge xxx\program\SEECtoJT.ini file for the JT translation. In the SEECtoJT.ini by default we have set "Use Solid Edge Resolution = 1" which disables the LODs.
If you want SEEC to generate JT files with 3 LOD levels (low, medium, high) you need to change the value to "Use Solid Edge Resolution = 0" and you can define the LOD quality in the same SEECtoJT.ini.
With this option set every JT has 3 LODs to control the view quality.
