What are transient parts?
How they behave related to Export dialog?
How they behave related to the below Customer default setting? (Import Transient Parts)

Solution

The transient parts are the temporary parts, which act as a placeholder in NX.
Such transient parts do not have any associated NX dataset in Teamcenter.

Transient parts are the ones that are created in Teamcenter. (without any NX datasets)
And then they are added in an assembly and saved with the below settings so that no dataset will be created in the Teamcenter on save operation in NX.

Exporting of transient Parts capability has been implemented from NX12.0 onwards.
While exporting this assembly outside Teamcenter, NX displays a message to you about this.
And on export, actual NX parts will be created on the OS for the transient parts.

So while importing this assembly to Teamcenter, if the customer Default setting "Import Transient Parts" is off, the exported transient parts will not be imported and NX will display the message about this.

And if you enable the customer default "Import Transient Parts", NX will import the exported transient parts.
