Solid Edge Unable to Replace Part with Alternate Component in SEEC

User wants to replace a part with an Alternate Component in a SEEC managed assembly but gets an error message.  Workflow:

• Open the Top-level assembly.
• Select a component.
• Use Replace Part to replace this with a pre-defined Alternate Component.
• They are able to select the alternate from the pull down but get an error when accepting:
  
  

  

  
  
  
  

Solution

By default Solid Edge does not load all linked documents.  Therefore the solution is to switch on "Download linked documents" in the Open file dialogue.

With this option turned on the Alternate Components are loaded to the SEEC cache and you are able to replace the part.
