NX tool library file field for holder insertion distance

When the user specifies the OS parameter for a tool to define how far the tool is inserted into the holder, where does this value get written in the tool_database.dat file for the tool library?

Solution

While this parameter is labelled "(OS) Offset" on the tool holder dialog, the numerical value entered here is stored in the HOFF field of the format line for that tool entry in the database file. 

The picture below shows a small portion of the FORMAT line and the tool DATA entry line imported to a spreadsheet as pipe-delimited text to illustrate how each value in the data line correlates to the list of format values in neat columns, rather than the plain text which can be difficult to read.

Notes and References

Siemens PLMS does not recommend manual editing of the ascii tool library files outside of deleting entire line item entries.  Populating the database files by any method other than exporting tools from the NX session dialogs is not supported.
