The SEEC File Open dialog in Solid Edge has two types of Searches, Quick Search and Advanced Search. By default, the Quick Search function is delivered with three queries in the list, Item ID, Item Name and Item Description.
How can you add additional Teamcenter queries to the Quick Search list that is displayed in SEEC File Open dialog?
Solution
There was a new Teamcenter preference introduced with SEEC. It will allow a Teamcenter administrator to add and delete Single Entry queries in the SEEC Quick Search pulldown list. Single Entry being a query based on a single criterion.
The new Teamcenter preference is "SEEC_Search_SearchQueries". To edit this preference and add the desired single entry query, perform the following steps in Teamcenter Rich Client interface:
1. Select Options from the Edit pulldown in the Rich Client. This will open the Options dialog.
2. As seen in the following screenshot, select Filter or Search or Organization to allow the user to search the the Teamcenter preferences. Then Select the Search On Keywords and enter "SEEC_Search" to filter results of the preference list. After the filtered list is displayed, select the "SEEC_Search_SearchQueries" preference from the list.
3. Select Edit to allow edits to be made to the preference Values list.
4. Enter the Value for the single entry query desired and then select the "+" symbol to add it to the list.
5. Select "Save" and then close the dialog.
6. Restart Solid Edge if it is running. Login to Teamcenter, then select the Open command to display the SECC File Open dialog. As you will see, the new query entry is displayed for you to choose.
Remember, this list can only contain single entry queries. If a query is built based on multiple entry criteria then the query will have to be accessed using the "SEEC Advanced Search" pane in SEEC File Open.
