Summary
Details
In Solid Edge we can use the Material Table to define the material properties for your parts. This table includes physical properties and the style that will be used.
In this article I will explain how you can use this table for your Standard Parts Library. The prerequisite is a running and configured Standard Parts environment.
Solution
Add multiple materials to a part
It is also possible to define multiple materials for a Standard Part. Using a Characteristic for the material will add this as a selection to the Standard Parts interface.
In this example I will add seven Structural (base Steel) materials to the DIN EN Hollow Section
Step 1 – Adding the Characteristics
Start the Standard parts Administrator.
Select the part(s) you want to add the material.
Run Part -> 'Extend existing part(s)'.
This will launch the Part Editor -> press "add Characteristic" and Select "Material" from the pulldown list:
In the next step change the "Number of Values" and copy/paste the material names from the Material table.
Press "Next" until the Wizard is finished.
The Hollow section list is now extend with the materials.
Step 2 – Working in Solid Edge
Open a new assembly and save this file.
Start Standard Parts and select DIN EN 10219.
Now a new Characteristic "Material" is added to the Hollow Section.
You have multiple material options for each Hollow section.
