Summary
Details
In Solid Edge we can use the Material Table to define the material properties for your parts. This table includes physical properties and the style that will be used. In this article I will explain how you can use this table for your Standard Parts Library. The prerequisite is a running and configured Standard Parts environment.
Solution
Add a single material to a part
Goal: Add the Material "Steel – Structural:1.0037, S235J" to the DIN-EN 10219 Hollow Sections. Step 1 – Add a new Characteristic
Start the Standard Parts Administrator.
Select the part(s) to which you want to add the material.
Run Part -> 'Extend existing part(s)'.
This will launch the Part Editor -> press "add Characteristic" and Select "Material" from the pulldown list:
Copy the Material name from the Material Table to the Predefined Material field in the Parts Editor:
The next dialog allows you to change the pattern that is used for the part name.
Press "Next" in this step.
The next step allows you to select the navigation category (press "Next").
Properties are now synchronized to the parts.
Step 2 – Test that it is working in Solid Edge
Open a new assembly and save this file.
Start Standard Parts and select DIN EN 10219.
Now a new Characteristic "Material" is added to the Hollow Section.
Select a Width and place the part (the part will be generated now).
When you open the part the Material is assigned to the part and the physical properties used.
