Solid Edge SEWHD - Electrical Manager service not starting

The user is working with Solid Edge Wiring and Harness Design (SEWHD).  The user is unable to use Solid Edge Electrical applications.

They have checked in Windows Services and Solid Edge Electrical Manager is stopped.  They start the service again but it immediately stops.

They have used the Server applications (Stop and Start Electrical Manager and Database) and it continues not to work - the server applications do not run.

Solution

 
1.  Log into the server running Solid Edge Electrical Manager and Database using Administrator credentials.
 
2.  If the environment variable SEE_TEMP is defined, change to the folder that this variable points to.
 
 

 
3.  If SEE_TEMP variable is not defined, then change to the folder C:\Windows\Temp\electrical\<version>\
 
4.  Find the file called ElectricalManager_SYSTEM_<date>_<time>.log
 

 
5.  You will need to open the Electrical Manager log file with the most recent timestamp.
   
6.  Search for the following error message in the log file.
  
chs.capitalmanager.persistence.PersistenceException: User authentication failed: invalid username or password
 
7.  If you find this error message, go to the install folder e.g. C:\Program Files\Siemens\Solid Edge Wiring and Harness Design 2021\bin\ 
  
8.  Select the executable called ElectricalUtility.exe … Right Click > Run as Administrator
 

 
9.   In the field called "Text to Encrypt" enter the text string manager

10. In the field called "Confirm text to encrypt"  enter the string manager 
 
11.   Select the Encrypt button.
 
12.   Select the Copy button.
 

 
 
13.   Now you need to edit the file clientprops.xml on this server.  This file resides in the install location "config" folder.
 
14.   Locate the line that starts with webserver cisjettyroot (approximately at line 213)
 
15.   Replace the encrypted password with the one you generated in steps 8 through to 12.  
 You must keep the double quotes.
  

16.   Save the file
  
17.   Stop the Services using the Start Menu > Siemens Solid Edge Wiring and Harness Design 2021 > Right click on Stop Electrical Manager and Database > More > Run As Administrator
 

 
18.   Start the Services using the Start Menu > Siemens Solid Edge Wiring and Harness Design 2021 > Right click on Start Electrical Manager and Database > More > Run As Administrator
 
 

 
19.   Using the Task Manager, check if Electrical Manager process stays running.
  
 
Possible Root Cause(s):


Encrypted password for database optimization (ie: cismaster) became corrupted.
  
Possible reasons the cismaster password got corrupted:
  

• Server was shutdown abruptly while the SEWHD services were still running.
• The SEWHD services (Electrical Manager, Database) were shutdown using the Windows Services  commands instead of 'Start Service' and 'Stop service' actions.
