Summary
Details
Parts List Items are renumbered and re-sorted after changing the Table Format format even though "Renumber items/balloons according to sort order" is deactivated in the Table Properties.
In this example the user opened an older Draft file which contains an assembly Parts List and re-ordered the items. The user saved their Table Format with a defined name e.g. 000 in the Table Properties "General" Tab and then chooses another format e.g. "ISO A4". Despite the table taking the settings of the "ISO A4" format the Items were reset to the assembly sequence.
Why is the Table reset even though the setting was switched off?
Solution
In Solid Edge 2019 we added new uniqueness criteria to the table properties "Options" dialog. As per the current design, if there is any change found in uniqueness criteria between the Formats it will reset the item number.
A small example:
The current Parts List shown is following sorted and numbered:
The Table Properties Options are set in the Tube, Frame and Pipe uniqueness area:
Changing the Table Format to another Format which differs in the Uniqueness settings will cause the change in the Parts List e.g. here the chosen Format has the two additional settings active:
These different settings will reset the Parts List Item sequence as shown below: How to prevent this change:
Before editing the table to a new Format check whether the Options dialog differs in the Tube, Frame and Pipe uniqueness Area between the current and future one.
If there is a difference setting it is required to edit the future Table Format before it will be used, or to create a new one based on it.
Select the Table with MB3 (right Mouse key) > Properties.
Choose on the "General" Tab "Saved settings" the future format without executing Apply or OK.
Go to the "Options" Tab
Change the settings to the same as the current Format. In the above example "Flat Length" and "Mark ambiguous Values with:" need to be deselected.
Switch back to the "General" Tab
Save the Format or or create a new one by adding a new name and saving. Caution: Do not activate the Format at this point as this would still change the Table.
Close the Dialog without hitting Apply and OK
Now you can choose the new Format via the Table Properties or the Quick Access in the Part List Dialog
The table will get the settings of the new format but without resetting the Items.
