In the Solid Edge Modular Plant Design demo materials the flow direction is visual as a symbol in the ISO-gen drafts. How can I do this?
Solution
In Smap3D Piping, you have the option of indicating the flow direction. This occurs per support pipe. After you have defined the flow direction, it can be temporarily displayed, reversed or deleted again.
The flow direction can be displayed in the isometric drawing via a symbol on the pipeline.
First, the option for displaying the flow direction must be activated on I-Configure. This should already be activated by default. However, please verify this setting. Start I-Configure and edit the style Final-Basic.
Check whether Flow Arrows are activated with True for Show on Pipe under Drawing Area - Content.
Then choose a different color for displaying the Flow Arrow on the drawing. Create a new record under Drawing Area - Graphics - Definitions.
Select FLOW-ARROWS in the list and enter the value 5 in the color column.
The arrow display is implemented with a "Dummy Part" on the pipeline. Instructions for assembling the part - excerpt from Help:
Create the Flow Arrow
To display a flow direction in the resulting isometric drawing a flow arrow component can be placed to a pipeline and fulfill following criteria:
CO_ORDS coordinate system placed with its base point on a pipeline path
custom property SKEY with value of FLOW
custom property ComponentType with value of FLOW_ARROW (optional)
A flow arrow created in this way displays the flow direction as the components are sequenced in the Components tree view. You get the same result by adding custom property FLOW with value of 1, while the value of 2 reverses the direction and the value of 3 results in displaying a bidirectional flow arrow symbol. You can re-use this Flow arrow model as a symbol or library part. Save it on a central place.
Add the Flow Arrow in the 3D model
Drag and drop the Flowarrow part and place this in the middle of your pipe line Recalculate Pipelines(s) will add this to the piping tree and save the assembly Generate the ISO-draft
1) Select pipe -> show Flow direction 2) Start ISO metrics 3) In Step2 you should see the custom property FLOW for the Flow arrow part
4) Finish the ISO 5) Open the ISO-draft in Solid Edge and the Flow symbol is now generated
