Summary

Details

In this example, a customer has a part with Inter-Part links to an assembly that no longer exists.
Since they need to check in this Part into their database, they need to break the links:

So the customer selects the Links Symbol in Pathfinder with Right Mouse Button and selects the option
"Break All".

As a result they get the following message:

They click 'Yes', but the links are still there

Subsequently, they click on Tools > Inter-Part Manager and select with Right Mouse Button the listed Part - a Context Menu comes up with the Option "Break Links":

The result is that now all links are broken as requested.

What is the difference between these two options ?

Solution

When we select the Links icon and ask to Break Links, we try to break links on the individual links and we cannot since in this example we are not able to get to the top level document to check/break links.

However, when the user tries to break on the Inter-part Manager dialogue, we do not try to get to the top level document - we just delete each element (since that is what the user is asking).
