Summary

Details

An Assembly Sketch created with "Project to Sketch" from an assembled part model edge is not updated after the model was edited and saved in the opened Part file even though Automatic Update is switched on.

This is not the case when the Model is edited in the Assembly using in-place activate.

In this example, an Assembly contains two simple part files and an Assembly sketch line created using "Project to Sketch" from one part model.

The part file was opened via the Pathfinder - Right Mouse Submenu > Open to edit the length of the model which determines the sketch position in the Assembly file.   After editing the length the part file was saved but not closed.

The user switches via the file tab to the Assembly and sees that the sketch and also the model position of the second part are not updated to the new position even though "Automatic Update" is activated.

Solution

To resolve this condition - where the edited Part document has remained opened - it is necessary to do a manual update of the Active Level.

In order for the Assembly to be automatically updated the open Part file needs to be closed.
Closing the Part file forces the automatic update.

This is similar to the workflow for an In-Place activated Edit of the model.  Finishing the edit of the model with "close and return" forces the Automatic Assembly update.
