Details

Opening a STEP file directly from MS Outlook failed with the message:

"Cannot save a document to Internet Cache location. Select the folder again to save the document."  

Solution

Check in the settings file "step.ini" (located in the Solid Edge installation folder e.g.  C:\Program Files\Siemens\Solid Edge 2021\Preferences\Translators) if the setting "Import Enable Default Output Path=" is set ON.
Change the Value to "OFF" and save the file.

The Step file should now be translated and opened in Solid Edge with the selected Solid Edge template directly from MS Outlook.
