Details

When assembling and using an axial alignment on a slot hole normally it can be aligned in the middle of the slot hole but when the slot hole is on a part copy this is not possible.

Solution

This is working as designed.  When you do a Part Copy, it becomes a body inside the part so the feature information is not carried across.  Consequently, you can only choose the axis from the true cylinders of the slot when doing an axial align.

The workaround is to create a feature library entry for the slot and then apply it as required.
