In Solid Edge we can mark a part or assembly as reference data. The result is that these reference files are suppressed in the Solid Edge BOM report and Parts List. But how to suppress the reference parts in the Teamcenter BOM?
Solution
Background
When the Solid Edge Occurrence Properties Higher Level=No and Physical Properties=Yes, the occurrence is considered to be part of the product design and the occurrence is written to the Teamcenter product structure. As a designer, you can use this combination of settings to prevent components that you do not need to visualize from displaying when this assembly is used in higher-level assemblies. In this case, the occurrence is culled from the design to improve assembly performance and is part of a technique called clutter control. This technique is often used to cull fastener systems from higher-level assemblies.
Teamcenter Configuration
SEEC_Enable_AssemblyConstructions = 1
This option will determine if an assembly occurrence marked as a construction is added to the Teamcenter BOM View Revision. When all occurrences are marked as constructions, the Item Revision is connected to the assembly using a relation.
Test with SEEC
Create an assembly with two parts. Item 000129 is a reference part and should not appear in the TC BOM or TC Viewer.
Open the Assembly Occurrence properties. Change the "Higher level" and "Physical Properties" occurrence for Item 000129 to "No". Save and upload the assembly.
In the TC BOM this will suppress the reference part. This will be the same for the TC Viewer. For the draft you can set the Assembly Occurrence "Draft Reference = Yes". This will exclude the reference part from the Parts List.
