In the Solid Edge Standard Parts configuration Wizard we can define the Item Type that will be used for Teamcenter.  In most cases this is sufficient to work with.
 
However, there could be a need to use a different Item Type for e.g. structural steel or pipe components because the material needs some additional operations before it can be used.
 

Solution

Use case:

 
For Standard Parts we want to use the Item Type "Standard" but for Structural Steel we want to use the Item Type "Item".

Configuration:
 
Setup the Solid Edge Standard Parts Configuration Wizard with the Item Type "Standard".

Start the Solid Edge Standard Parts Administrator.
Use "Select Properties to Display".

Add "Teamcenter Item type".
Select all Parts in the category and press "Edit file properties".

Enter "Item" in the "Teamcenter Item type" column (you can copy/paste) for each line.
Press Apply when finished.
 
Note: For custom Item types use the Real Name.
 
If you generate the category or use the Standard Parts tool to generate the part in Solid Edge it now will use Item type "Item" for these parts.

Test with SEEC

 
·         Create a new assembly and save to Teamcenter.
·         Place a Hollow Section. 
·         Add a Bolt.
 
2 new Items are generated; save and close the assembly.
