The Insights Hub (former MindSphere) R&D team develops, deploys, and maintains our "core" applications and services, which the Insights Hub Technical Support team covers and for which customers can submit here in Support Center.  These include basic configuration and administration services (like Asset Manager, Settings, Upgrade) or analytics and visualization (like Business Intelligence, Visual Flow Creator, Monitor, etc.).

The Insights Hub services provide tools that our customers and partners use to create, deploy, and sell their own custom applications or solutions.  Those same Insights Hub users can create and develop their own customs agents to upload asset data to the cloud for visualization and analysis.  We consider both of these "3rd party" content.  

But how do you know the difference between core and 3rd party applications or agents?  What is the list of core Insights Hub support functionality, and how do Siemens Software and Siemens Industry work together?

Solution

Whenever a customer or partner develops their own application or connectivity agent, they will provide first-line support for their product.  The easiest way to confirm this is through the app's OS bar - 3rd party app developers should include Support contact information within their app (see screenshot below).  If there is no contact information, the product sheet will confirm their official support process.


An important Siemens clarification - many Siemens Industry business units develop their own Insights Hub solutions outside of the core Siemens Software Insights Hub Product team.  The Siemens Industry applications are supported through the Siemens Industry Online Support portal (SIOS) found at https://support.industry.siemens.com/ and will be listed in their product sheets.  There is not yet integration between our Siemens DI Software and Siemens AG Industry ticketing systems.  If the Insights Hub Technical Support team receives a user request for one of these apps, we will direct users to SIOS.
