Solid Edge English Standard Part names in a non-English Solid Edge installation

I see English Standard Part names in my assembly PathFinder in a non-English Solid Edge installation.

Although I installed Solid Edge and Standard Parts in my language (eg. German) on a system with the operating system in my language, I see Standard Parts in the assembly PathFinder with English names.

Is there a way to convert those names in the PathFinder to my language?

Solution

In general there are two ways to achieve this:

1.

Standard Parts are always generated with an English filename regardless of the Solid Edge language. The so called PartName of the Standard Part is language dependent and typically saved in the property 'Title' of the part. Saving the language dependent PartName in the 'Title' is the default and you can modify that in the Standard Parts Configuration Wizard.

Hence, if you fill the property 'Title' in all your parts you can use the Document Name Formula on the Helpers tab in the Solid Edge options to see the language dependent Standard Part names in the assembly Pathfinder.

2.

If you do not want to use the Document Name Formula to display the Title of the parts there is a way to use the occurrence placement name and fill it with the language dependent PartName.  The occurrence placement name is the name that is shown in the PathFinder.  In general, the occurrence placement name is the filename but this can be changed for the Standard Parts by creating the registry key EnableOccNameOverride inside HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Siemens\Standard Parts and setting it to '1'.

Notes and References

The second solution using the occurrence placement name should be defined before placing any Standard Part because already placed Standard Parts will not inherit the PartName as their placement name, and you will have to define the occurrence placement name for those Standard Parts manually through the occurrence properties manager.
