Scenario:

A customer has a Floating License of Solid Edge Premium, plus a Foundation and CAM Pro bundle in a separate license.  The customer needs to borrow the Solid Edge Premium License as it contains Solid Edge Simulation, however they also need to borrow the CAM Pro license from the bundle whilst leaving the Foundation licence available for another user.  How to achieve that, given that a borrowed license cannot be steered via an Options File?

Solution

License Borrowing works as follows:

If no Packages are defined in a license, then those features that have a common string as the user_info string, will be Borrowed as one "Bundle".

In this case the license contains this string for all CAM Pro Features:

user_info="Solid Edge + CAM Pro 3 Axis Milling"

and also for the feature solidedge:

user_info="Solid Edge + CAM Pro 3 Axis Milling"

So to "break" that bundle for Borrowing, the user has to change the user_info string for the feature solidedge to another string, e.g. :

user_info="Solid Edge Foundation"

Then when starting the Borrowing Tool , and clicking on Borrow...

they will be able to choose Premium, Foundation and CAM Pro  (of course without Solid Edge)

When then selecting SE Premium-FL together with CAM Pro 3 Axis Milling, the user will check out Solid Edge Premium with Simulation included, plus CAM Pro as one Borrowed License.

You can see that also in the Registry in the Hive:

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\FLEXlm License Manager\Borrow

from the Machine, where the License was borrowed:
