The Opcenter APS Onboarding material provides a step by step guide to the new user on how to set up the Opcenter APS product. The material covered has been broken down into several onboarding knowledge base articles, each ordered chronologically.
This article addresses the subject of installation. It is broken down into the following steps below:
Solution
Install Your Opcenter APS Software
The latest version of Opcenter APS can be downloaded from the Downloads page on Support Center for the Opcenter APS product. The file will be called 'Opcenter APS 24.10.x.xxxxx-x64.exe'. If an earlier version is needed, click the drop down at the top of the table and select a different version.
The Opcenter APS Installation Guide (InstallationGuide.pdf) can be viewed (or downloaded) from the Downloads page on Support Center for the Opcenter APS product also.
Before installing Opcenter APS, read the information provided in the Opcenter APS Installation Guide, specifically step 1 in the Introduction section. More information about licensing will be given at the end of this article.
With the prerequisite Microsoft SQL Server available (as detailed in the Installation Guide), now you are ready to install Opcenter APS.
Install a Shipped Opcenter APS Package
A selection of different shipped configuration packages are provided with the Opcenter APS installation. An Opcenter APS package file is similar to a zip file, and before being able to launch an Opcenter APS product, the package will first need to be extracted. Please read here for instructions on how to extract an Opcenter APS Package. More information is covered on this subject in the Onboarding - Working With Configuration Packages article in terms of how to install a package specifically for your data purposes.
Install API Templates (Optional)
This is an optional step that only needs to be taken if any custom code projects are to be created. Opcenter APS ships with some code templates to be used in Microsoft Visual Studio when creating custom code projects. Simply browse to C:\Program Files\Siemens\Opcenter APS 2410\SDK and run the file called Opcenter APS Template.vsix
See C:\Program Files\Siemens\Opcenter APS 2410\SDK\API Documentation.chm under the 'Getting Started>Code Templates' topic for more detail on this subject.
Install and Setup the Licensing For Your Opcenter APS Software
Opcenter APS cannot be launched without either a trial license or a purchased license that has been activated. Please view the Onboarding - Licensing article to learn more on this topic.
