Summary
Details
Customer is unable to save their Solid Edge draft as DWG or DXF to a local drive when working in a Teamcenter managed environment.
User usually creates a new draft where they used Released objects. This draft is only required for export and there is no need to save this in Teamcenter. With previous Solid Edge Embedded Client [SEEC] versions you could use "Save as Translated" and save the draft to a local drive. In Solid Edge 2020 this behavior is changed.
Solid Edge now show the following message:
This operation is not permitted until the document has been saved. Save the document, and then repeat this operation.
Is there a way to disable this check and save the translated file to a local disc?
Solution
Unset the "Save Translation To Teamcenter" switch on the Teamcenter tab in Solid Edge. By default, this is set so that means we save the translated file to Teamcenter. In order to save the translated file to Teamcenter we need to save the Solid Edge file first, hence the prompt for save.
By unsetting the switch unmanaged behavior can be obtained like in Solid Edge 2019.
